Urine Drug Testing (UDT)

provides objective information to clinicians and helps them identify the presence or absence of drugs in the body. UDT can be used to monitor compliance with prescribed therapy and detect the use of non-prescribed and illicit substances.
Order UDT to:
  • Assess chronic pain management patients on opioid therapy
  • Monitor compliance of patients under treatment for substance abuse or dependence
  • Identify undisclosed drug abuse
UDT is necessary for patients prescribed:
  • Opioid medication
  • Antidepressants
  • Anticonvulsants
  • Neuroleptics
  • Antispasmodics & Muscle Relaxants
  • Patient has a Substance Use Disorder (SUD)

Definitive Drug testing

We perform definitive drug testing using liquid chromatography (LC) and tandem mass spectrometry (MS).

LCMS is the most sensitive and selective testing technique, it involves less human steps, provides quicker turn-around time, uses less specimen volume and can test for a large number of substances simultaneously.
This type of testing is considered gold standard as it identifies a specific drug or metabolite in urine samples. The extended definitive drug testing panel includes up to 24 drug classes (~74 analytes).

Order LCMS to:
  • Identify specific drugs in a large family of drugs
  • Identify drugs when a definitive concentration of a drug is needed to guide management

Presumptive urine drug testing

is useful for general screening in contexts of compliance and/or abuse as it can detect the presence or absence of drugs in urine samples.
